The Carroll-Crawford house was built in 1869 for Joseph Carroll, a cotton merchant from Virginia. The house was designed by Samuel Jamison who also designed the Morris-Israel house located at 1331 First Street. This house is a three-story Italianate style structure with cast iron balconies made by Jacob Baumiller.
