I don’t know what your schools looked like but mine sure didn’t look like this.
It was built for sugar factor Bradish Johnson in 1872 at a cost of $100,000 ($1.6-plus million today).
Since 1929 it has been the private Louise S. McGehee School for girls.
It’s not unusual to see school girls go from building to building in the neighborhood because the school has expanded over the years through purchases and donations of surrounding buildings.
Mr. Johnson’s other house, Woodland Plantation, can be seen in the logo for Southern Comfort.
